Node Explained · Lesson 3 of 12
AGENT Node: Persona, Knowledge and Tools
Everything else in a workflow moves data, calls systems or branches. Only the AGENT node reads, decides and writes in language: an instruction, a model, and whatever knowledge or tools you attach.
What You Will Learn
- What an AGENT node actually is: an instruction, a model, and whatever knowledge or tools you choose to attach
- Why the four-block instruction structure matters: who you are, what you do, what you must never do, what you return
- How the agent's type is derived rather than chosen: knowledge makes it RAG, tools make it a tool agent, both make it hybrid
- Mapping inputs with the variable picker instead of writing paths by hand
- Reading the assembled prompt, because the prompt you wrote in the box is not the prompt that gets sent
- Choosing the model per step, and why the cheapest model that still gets the job done is the right default
